Not unlike Ultimate Knight Windom XP, Silver Knights is a Doujin game about mechas duking it out in various scenarios and maps made by Haruo Teshima.
It consists in a Deathmatch or Team-Deathmatch similar to Virtual-On.
The mecha present a lot of variety, like one with a grappling hook and heavy armor that ejects when the mech sustains a lot of damage, an artillery-oriented mecha with electric claws for melee and many others.

There is already a topic for Silver Knights, just sayin'. XD

Anyway it was a good game but with rather slow responding controls. It is true this game is more similar to Virtual-On than Windom XP was. This is a good point. Sadly the project was canceled like the other cool fan games. Do someone ever tried to work on that game? Maybe the Silver Knights is more easy to edit than Windom XP.

Even if not a fan, I like the design. If someone try to mod this game it really deserves a topic amongst the Project Windom games. Very Happy

If no one tries to mod the game it is not necessary. I always thought those topics goes for the games with active modding group.

As far as I know there is only some custom map for Silver Knights, no one tried modding the mechas.

i will take a look at the files but from what i remember there is no encryption.


its uses .x text format. should be easy to convert to xp.

mechs shouldn't be hard to convert over.

only the mechs are .x


but the maps might can be ripped with a tool. won't try cause the game is incompatible with win10.

I don't said it is important. It is just for the separate topic. If anyone interested in modding the Silver Knight then it deserves an own topic alongside the Project Windom games. Sadly this game is abandoned too, there will be no compatibility fix.

Strangely enough this game was released before the Project Windom's games including the alpha versions. Maybe the Blue Heat is older than the Silver Knights, I don't know the exact release date of that game.

But it had no funding support like the Windom games. It is nowhere near as good programmed as the Windom XP, this is a fact. But if someone interested in it, he/she could make it a way more better. I never was a fan of this game, its gameplay is too chaotic for me, and half of the weapons are useless.

i didn't like it either, it felt slow. windom xp feels much faster. plus i would rather build my own mecha game than fully overhaul an existing.

I think the biggest interest would be convert the maps because are more interesting than those of ukwxp
mecha are not so necessary at least I think... only for someone big fan of this game

It is unfortunate that this game does not continue to improve
I just liked my flight mode... was a little more realistic
the rest was very slow and the attacks are very bad

but yes I like this old maps maybe could be good for ukwxp like a "memory" of this old game

try to use a 3d ripper program to extract the maps. thats the only way i can think of to get them.

That is right. Building a game with our own engine is the best and final action a real programmer must do. And even if one's knowledge is not enough for a custom engine there is always the Unreal Engine and the Unity.

I not really remember the maps of the Silver Knights. There was a smaller cubic shaped map, that would be awesome however.

silver knights maps were made with hammer editor by valve for their source engine. so ripping them should be a matter of getting those tools

It is sad there was no original characters for these games. Maybe the cats of Windom XP count as original, but I thought about something better. XD

When it comes to maps, I always seen two different kind. The consol games (including the Gundam vs. games and the Virtual-On) has maps that is more like an arena or stage from a fighting game. The PC games (at least the Silver Knights and the Windom XP) has maps that is at least three time longer than the active range of the units. Even the high-speed weapons can't hit from that range if the opponent has some reflexes.

I like these huge maps. It can be used for tactics, or you can just stay out from the opponent's range with mechs that can lock-on from longer. And of course these large maps has objects all over it. You can use it for cover, or you can position yourself to be able to fire, but the opponent can't hit you.

Of course every map lose its advantages against the Anthurium. It just destroys everything at the moment it starts firing all of its weapons. Or just the penetrating reail cannon, there is no cover against that.

i have start building something in unity. i could do custom engine but not going to.  unity allows me to do things abit faster. i even consider reverse engineering windom xp to load into unity but i thought that was too crazy.

I think that would be unnecessary too. The Windom XP always was used for Gundam mods, then if you make a game about Windom XP it should be easier to already make a Gundam game.
