for those encountering "the program could not start because the d3dx9_32.dll is missing from your computer

I thought Id Post this as I came upon this issue recently when trying to install UKWXP ver 2.008 on a Lenovo Idea Stick 300. windows 10 32bit.

Ran the installer through administration and compatibility mode but when I ran the game got this message "The program could not start because the d3dx9_32.dll is missing from your computer" dont panic. UKWXP runs on Direct x 9 but your computer probably has the latest Direct x 11.2 or higher.

All you need to do is download the Direct x june 2010 runtime library. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109&wa=wsignin1.0 Choose or create a folder to save it to. Within that library is a "cabinet folder" that contains the "d3dx9_32.dll" its about 3mb open the folder and extract or copy the d3dx9_32.dll to the GAME folder of UKWXP and open the game and hey presto it works. (caution do NOT uninstall your latest Direct x version. It is not required and will affect your computer).

The .dll files are library files that contains the script for the commands a program use to communicate with the system. These filest load only when the program triggers the command. You can have both DirectX installed on your PC without problem, since the programs request the processing and not the OS handle it.

It is wise to always install the latest one after you installed an another version, but it should cause no problem if you don't do it.
